Detoxify and Boost Your Energy

Try this detox smoothie

This smoothie is sweet and fresh and is a good liver detox! We were looking for a delicious snack between breakfast and lunch and this really hit the spot. It also looks really beautiful with the little red flecks running through it. See below for the full list of ingredients.

Detoxification occurs in your liver, but when it’s not functioning well, you may start to see changes in your skin. Breakouts, pimples, dry, flaky skin or itchy, waxy ears, eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis.

A detox is not simply giving up alcohol and eating more vegetables, although that helps! Your liver performs a lot of steps in order to detoxify your coffee, the car fumes you inhaled on the way to work and the stress hormones you produced because you didn’t sleep that well last night. In order to do this, it needs a lot of nutrients, that we call co-factors.

These cofactors come from a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and legumes. As some of those won’t be very tasty in a smoothie 😉 we’ve put together a few that will.

Whenever you are feeling sluggish or low in energy, this smoothie is for you. We made it in a NutriBullet, but you can also use a blender.

Detox Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients for 3 small 200ml glasses

  • 3 red radishes
  • 1/4 fennel, roughly chopped
  • 1.5 bananas
  • 1/2 orange
  • small piece of fresh turmeric root, peeled
  • thumb sized piece of fresh ginger root, peeled
  • apple juice to the max line on a NutriBullet (approx 300ml) – you can use almond milk, yoghurt or water too

Put them into your blender/NutriBullet and blend until smooth. If you find it’s not blending well then add more liquid.
